About Thought-Detective.com: Who Am I?

Hi...

I'm Suzanne.

I'm an American living in France so I guess that makes me an expat or expatriate.

That's what you normally call someone who lives in a foreign country.

Moving to France has become one of the defining moments of my life...or to put it more bluntly...it was one of the worst periods of my life so far.

But it's also where I learned the most about how to get through the really bad stuff.

Of course I've done a lot of training in NLP, Hypnosis, and other strategies for self improvement and personal growth.

But nothing teaches like living through it yourself...

And pulling yourself out of it step by step.

If you ever get the chance to meet me, you may get the false impression that I'm just a naturally happy, energetic, and somewhat silly person...

I'd like to set the record straight.

I remember meeting people that "looked" perfect and thinking "they're so lucky"..."why can't I be like that"...so I know people do that.

I'm not a naturally happy and energetic person. The silliness does come naturally though ; )

I unlearned how I did "unhappy" and "depressed" and learned how to do "happy" and "energetic".

One of the reasons I'm good at what I do is because I know how "unhappy" and "depressed" work...among other things...

So wherever you are in your journey...

Remember that you can unlearn anything...

And then everyone will think you're a "natural" too eventually...

Me? I'd rather everyone knew...granted...no one would ever believe just how miserable I really was in the past...

Or how scared I was of other people...

Thought Detective is where I talk about all the things I've noticed...and unlearned...

I've used being a thought detective...

  • To enjoy learning three foreign languages and keep it up for a long time...
  • To find ways to enjoy doing things that I used to hate to do...
  • To stay in a good mood EVEN when I didn't understand a word anyone was saying to me.
  • To get out there and sometimes say the wrong thing or do the wrong thing and stay in a good mood and even laugh about it...
  • To remind myself that I'm still a wonderful and intelligent human being when I have forgotten it...
  • And most importantly to keep in mind that it's all a lot better than I thought it was...

If you want more details on some of the challenges I've had, you'll find more information here.

Why Did You Create www.thought-detective.com?

When I was going through all this myself way back when...

I wish I'd had something like this to help me out, so I decided to create this site...

And put all the things I've noticed and learned...

Including my mistakes...

So that maybe other people won't have to go through what I went through...

Really...I don't think anyone needs that!

Not to mention...

I enjoy writing!

I write for a few different newsletters and other publications, so why not put it all on the internet too...
