How to Feel Happy: What's Going On Inside Your Head?

If you want to know how to feel happy...

Start paying attention to what you're doing inside your head because your bad or good mood is not something that just happens.

Feeling rejected at work doesn't just happen...

Feeling overwhelming joy doesn't just happen either...

Ok...sometimes it seems to "just" happen, but it's always the result of specific actions that you do inside your head...

So you can just let things happen randomly...

You know...like the weather...

Sometimes it rains and your choice is somewhere between hate the rain and love the rain.

But inside your head, you have a choice...

Inside your head, you can create whatever you want.

All you need are some good recipes and the best way to get good recipes are to ask people who already do what you want to do well...

Thoughts create anger...

Thoughts create joy too!

If you want a recipe for joy, find out what people who are usually joyful think about themselves and others...

Find out what causes you to be joyful...

Start paying attention...

Beliefs are thoughts that you think are true. And then you decide what your thoughts mean.

According to the dictionary, "meaning" is significance, purpose or interpretation.

So, you decide what the significance of your thoughts is.

First, you have a thought...

Then you decide if it is true.

And then you decide what it means about you, other people, and everything else in between.

How to Feel Happy: Get Curious...

When you have a bad mood... it's time to get curious...

How did you do it?

What were you doing inside your head before the bad mood?

Were you saying something to yourself or were you imagining someone else saying something to you?

Were you remembering a moment in your past or a moment in your future?

What does it mean about you, your life, or your future?

What did you decide it meant about the other people in your life?

Next time, you can start to notice what's going on...

And as you start to notice what's going on, you'll become more aware of which direction you are going...

If you notice your train of thought going towards the wrong town...you can get off that train!

"Aha...this would have probably resulted in a bad mood if I had continued..."

"I'm glad I chose to do something else instead..."

The same thing works with a good mood!

What were you doing before this good mood?

Were you saying something to yourself or were you imagining someone else saying something to you?

Were you remembering a moment in your past or a moment in your future?

What does it mean about you, your life, or your future?

What did you decide it meant about the other people in your life?

Now you have a tool you can use to create a good mood...

And how to feel happy...
